Get Help With Missing Photos On Your iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch

By | January 16, 2019

So I had a lot of pictures on my IPod but I lost a bunch of them. According to iCloud, it says that my storage is full because I have 4.8GB of photos on there but my actual photos app says I only have 1.5GB of photos so I’m trying to figure out where the lost pictures are at. Any ideas?

Method one: Check your Recently Deleted folder

retrieve lost pictures from your iphone/ipad/ipod touch

You might have accidentally deleted your photos or videos, and now it’s in the Recently Deleted folder. Go to Photos > Albums > Recently Deleted. If you see the missing photo, you can move it back into your All Photos album. Here’re the steps:

  1. Tap the photo or video > Recover.
  2. Confirm that you want to recover the photo.
  3. Tap Select.
  4. Tap the photos or videos > Recover.
  5. Confirm that you want to recover the photos or videos.

Method two: Make sure that iCloud Photos is turned on

iCloud Photos securely stores all of your photos and videos in iCloud, so that you can access them on all of your devices. If you took a photo on your iPhone but don’t see it on your other devices, check your settings. Below are the steps:

  1. Go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud.
  2. Tap Photos.
  3. Turn on iCloud Photos.

After you turn on iCloud Photos, you might need to connect to Wi-Fi and wait a few minutes. Then look for your photos again.

Method three: Check if you hide your photos

If you hide your photos and videos in your Moments, Years, and Collections view, then you’ll only see them in your Hidden album. You can unhide your photos and videos from the Hidden album.

  1. Open the Photos app and go to the Albums tab.
  2. Tap Hidden under Other Albums.
  3. Select the photo or video that you want to unhide.

Method four: Extract images from iCloud backup selectively

We all know that documents are only backed up in iCloud as part of your overall backup. And they can only be accessed from the backup by restoring the entire backup to your phone. It means that you cannot selectively restore just parts of a backup and all your existing data and settings on your device would be wiped out. This is extremely frustrating. Actually, you don’t have to worry too much. With iFonebox, restoring only part of iCloud backup won’t be a difficult task.
